What is Co-Creativity?

“Co-creativity” is a philosphy and process of working in concert with nature intelligences to get things done. In essence, it is our job as spiritual beings to decide what to do, and then it is our job to work with Nature on how that desired outcome comes into being, into form.  This is a simplified definition, but one that works in this context.

What: Growing Kid-Friendly Food; How: ???

Here’s a concrete example: I decide that it’s time to grow food in my garden that my children will eat (which does not, let me state clearly, include zucchini). I establish the clear intention to grow kid-friendly food (the “what”) and then start asking Nature which plants to include in my garden (the “how”). Nature will give me information on how to grow kid-friendly food in a way that is balanced not only for my family but also for the planet.

What: Starting a New Business; How: ???

For a less concrete example, I can also decide that it’s time to start a new business. Again, I establish a clear intention for what service the business will provide and what needs the business will meet, and then I start asking Nature how to go about starting this business — from the business name to the location to the timing to the content, and so on. And, through this process, I can be sure that the resulting business model will be in alignment with my clear intention and will be the most balanced model for me, for my eventual customer base, and (again) for the planet.

An Aside About the Combustion Engine

I sometimes wonder: If an inventor had stated a clear intention to develop some sort of engine that would power a vehicle to move human beings around the planet, and if that inventor had then asked Nature how to bring that intention into balanced form, what would power our cars instead of the combustion engine? (Clearly, that invention is not one in balance with our planet!)

Thinking of It as Teamwork

You see, I recognize that I’ve got my own information and talents that I bring to bear in many situations, but I also recognize that there are other pieces of information and other talents that I don’t have. I am fully ready to offer what I can and then team up with others to create the most balanced result. It is in this spirit that I partner with Nature and nature intelligences to co-create stuff (and the list of possible “stuff” is seemingly endless).

Co-Creating Every Day, in Every-Day Ways

This blog is a place where I write about, document, explore, play with, and teach about my co-creative work. Ultimately, I see co-creativity as something simple and elegant and beautifully accessible — a process that I engage in every day and that has become embedded in my ordinary, everyday life. I hope to share my everyday co-creativity with all who are interested in expanding their everyday, as well.

Finally, About Me

I am an artist, designer, teacher, business owner, spouse, mother, daughter, friend, and co-creative gardener — both in and out of the soil.

Enjoy!
